Here you will find songs that I write and sing and songs that I don't write and still sing. There are also collaborations with friends and some pictures.

Aladdin

—Something for Cookeville

It has been an awful long year, and in six days, I will be traveling home to Baltimore.

This is a song about a place (Cookeville, TN) that is NOT my home. That part gets covered in the lyrics. The notable information that is not contained in the lyrics is that I was born in this place that I actively don’t consider my home. The song itself is about the home of a friend of my mother’s while she was living there, who we visited a couple times as I was growing up.

As a child, I assumed that I would feel a strong connection to this city. I did not, particularly. A couple years ago, I saw on the television that they recently raided a network of 600 meth labs, and I decided I probably wouldn’t be going back any time soon.

Sorry, Tennessee.

Music: Cut Wrists Instrumentals - Cex. Music used w/o permission, and, again, cut poorly to suit my own needs. Like that ending? Yeah, I bet you do. I don’t know how to fade out in Garageband.

Cut Cords

Tennessee is not my home
I am afraid, it is unknown
though I recall the house
adorned in green and there
in her son’s room we found them
Red Rain comics bloodstained they were violent
Batman was left as a vampire
he never got better and I
as a child was left acutely horrified

and we had to hold down
the button so we could rewind
ET on VHS
and Mom didn’t hit stop first
so we just rewatched it
playing backwards
back to the credits

the dog was covered in ticks
and if you picked them off,
another one gripped beneath
each following bug getting smaller
and buried in clotted blood

I decided then
to leave them alone
Tennessee is not my home.
