—Secret Agents In Waiting (Goni)
A camp song that isn’t part of the dug overlays, this song is set to “Goni,” by Nouveanoise. With no explicit reference to the Quakers, I like to think of this song as a meandering story told by a James Bond type character, but one with no self-confidence, who is inept at performing even the simplest of tasks (like following a map, or remembering not to forget the money box in the back of a pick-up truck, or kissing a girl, or not breaking someone’s handmade pottery).
Secret Agents in Waiting
I met her in a cabin near camp david in the woods
and I considered asking the beauty
if she would consider being my muse
in the event I sustain my
unbridled adoration
but if my crush for her were to persist
it wouldn’t negate that most of the places
you’ve never heard of don’t even exist.
What?
Nevermind.
Did I disown another potential moment of passion
upon which I’m inclined perpetually to passing
or was her interest the result of my inaccurate inference
from what I gleaned in our meeting
as a matter of occurrence?
Because if so,
I’d like to know,
cause if she really doesn’t like me well then
I just might be interested again
EPI pens to Opqueon
back when Will was still
Jamie
In the shadow of the towering M
we ate
The day was beautiful in everyway
when she inspired my every-while
although the car was well off-route by many miles.
But at Luray we turned around
and figured out how to get
the sunroof down
we re-evaluated
from the caves of Appalachia
to the compound in Madison
where our friends were stationed waiting
and despite that we had broken one
of Emma’s clay pots
and that for which we’d been sent
we had forgot
and that I’d left my phone
with the money lock box
the triple camp trip
was not a total loss.
The eve of our arrival was calmly full of cheer,
tired, we were, but the night was glimmering bright and clear
And I smoked a perique American Spirit
with Emma at the bridge, which would be our main frontier and
together we have a talent at making cigarettes disappear.
